Following the Red Team's victory - the Gaffer ordered that this commemorative statue become a permanent addition to basecamp. It depicts a ferret (a symbol of noble character and good work ethic) sporting the team colour.

With gravity at an all-time low, there's no excuse for not being match-fit. Marsimuscle is the place for players to train, build some muscle, and level that playing field.

Early on in the process of planning the first few structures on basecamp, Professor Gaffer knew that creating social spaces where players could form bonds (as well as a healthy sense of competition) would be crucial. The Keppy Uppy club is once such space - originally conceived as an informal training facility for players to finely tune their skills, it's become one of the communities favourite hangouts. Filled with carefully curated earth junk and vintage neon signs, the atmosphere is a mash up of Earth's New York Chinatown and an 80's arcade.

The first interplanetary library, run by the formidable martian, Teeba. Bookenbauers has a very strong graphic novel section - and a bit of a rat problem.

Booking time in the Home Dome pitch can be a bit of a scheduling nightmare. Groups of players who were keen to put in the extra hours and needed additional training space took matters into their own hands, and the Training Ground was born. It has a bit of a homespun boulders for goalposts feel to it - and as it's outside of any protective dome, spacesuits are a must for Human visitors.

A combination grocer and diner, 24 Carrot serves as a reliable daytime social hub for the men and women of headquarters. There’s a full twenty-four hour kitchen and automat, complete with a variety of protein-rich and partially-synthesized meals for hungry players. There’s a stage, where players of varying talent and bravery perform karaoke or amateur musical acts. At times, 24 Carrot serves as an informal salon for governance discussion, and it’s sometimes said that you can predict the next month of MPL edicts by overhearing the chit-chat of the dining section.

Not an officially-sanctioned part of MPL headquarters, La Rosa Blue is an independently established inn, cantina, and subterranean gathering place for the more adventurous and restless of the local players.

Comm Hill is a rocky outcropping in the center of MPL headquarters where long-range communications technology is mounted for maximum transmission range.

It's not just the players that need to get fit in order to make the most of a new Martian society. From snakes to millipedes The doors are open for any number of legs.

Watching films from the comfort of the rover lot has cemented as MPL tradition, and you can find a screening here most nights of the week.

Growing up in Weybridge, Edson was a pampered child. Quite bright and easily bored he was always seeking new experiences. He crossed Prof. Gaffer's path during in his Oxford University interview process.

A brassy, bull-headed English football champ with a good deal of professional football experience back home. He’s leaving not to get his start, but to find new worlds to conquer as he begins to age out of his prime professional years.
